Calculating the Creditor's Debt from Zakat
I lent a sum of money to a needy sister as a loan, with a written contract between us from last year. Is it permissible to count this amount from this year's Zakat if I waive it for her?

I say, and with God's help: This debt is not counted as zakat; because it is a condition for the validity of zakat payment to have the intention of zakat at the time of payment and transferring ownership to the poor. In your case, these conditions are lost, but you can pay her the zakat and then demand repayment of the debt directly, and God knows best.
