Buying Food Packages with Zakat Money
Is it permissible to buy food packages with zakat money for poor families instead of giving them cash, because they have smokers and do not care about their families' basic needs?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: The one giving alms has the choice to give what he sees fit to the poor, whether it be cash, clothing, food, packages, or other things, and God knows best.
