Buying Cigarettes for Someone

Question
Someone asked me to buy cigarettes for them, is this permissible? And is it permissible if the person who asked me to buy cigarettes is my father? What is the ruling on handing a lighter to someone who wants to light a cigarette with it?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: Smoking is disliked with a prohibition that is sinful, as is buying and selling it; therefore, it is not permissible for you to buy it for anyone, even if it is for your father, because there is no obedience to the creation in disobedience to the Creator. Similarly, passing it on is also not allowed so as not to assist in what is forbidden, while striving diligently to be dutiful to parents through permissible means. And God knows best.
