Bribery in Exchange for Silence on a Complaint
What is the ruling on taking an amount of money in exchange for remaining silent about filing a health violation complaint against a restaurant, knowing that if I file the complaint, I will receive a larger amount as compensation?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: You should have piety towards God and conceal for the sake of God Almighty, and advise the owner of the bakery. If he persists in harming Muslims, he should be complained about, and it is not permissible to take money from him, as it is unjustly taken. And God knows best.
