Question
A woman suffers from obsessive thoughts, especially regarding fasting. She doubts that her fast is valid, so she breaks her fast, interrupting her fasting during Ramadan and the voluntary fasts. By the grace of God, she has overcome difficulties and has been able to fast for three consecutive days. What is the ruling on the days she broke her fast? How can she be helped to overcome her obsession?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: She must estimate what she missed and make up for it with the fasting of expiation, which is fasting for two consecutive months, and she should not let doubts enter her mind regarding the fast unless there is certain breaking of the fast, and God knows best.
