Breaking the Fast After Fasting in Voluntary Fasts
A man fasted on the day of Ashura and his work was somewhat hard, then he broke his fast on the same day. Does he have to make up for it or is there a penalty?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: He must only make up the fast, and there is no expiation upon him; because expiation is specific to Ramadan, and God knows best.
