Benefiting from a Found Item After Identifying It
She says that her husband works as a driver on the road, and a bag of sugar fell from the car in front of him. The husband was unable to catch up with the car, so he brought the bag home. What should he do with it?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: it takes the ruling of a found item. If he can return it to its owner, he should do so; otherwise, he should give it as charity to the poor on behalf of its owner. If he is poor himself, he should give it as charity to himself and his family. And God knows best.
