I say, and with God's help: He must turn to repentance and seeking forgiveness, adhere to acts of worship, and not despair of God's mercy. If he is sincere in his repentance, God will ease the way for him. He should increase his remembrance in the morning and evening, read the Quran, seek good companionship with the righteous, and avoid the corrupt. And God knows best.
