Question
What is the ruling for someone who bore false witness and then passed away? Should his daughter pay anything on his behalf?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: Bearing false witness is one of the major sins, and there is no expiation for it except repentance to God Almighty. The daughter of the deceased can give charity and other good deeds on behalf of her father in an effort to increase his good deeds over his bad ones, and God knows best.
