Question
What is the ruling for someone who applies medicine on a wound that prevents water from reaching it and is unable to wash it due to illness?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: Whoever applies a medicine to the wound that prevents water from reaching it, like an ointment or otherwise, and is unable to wash it, must run water over it. If he is unable to do that, he must wipe it. Then, if he is unable to do that, he should wash the area around it and leave it. Refer to: Sharh al-Wiqayah p.119, and Nihayat al-Murad p.401, and God knows best.
