An Extra Rak'ah and Remembering in the Fifth
What is the ruling for someone who performed an extra rak'ah and then remembers in the fifth rak'ah that it is an extra one? What should they do, should they complete it or go down to bowing directly?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: If one remembers in the fifth (rak'ah) before prostration, he returns to the sitting position, prostrates for forgetfulness, and then gives the salutation. And God knows best.
