Adding the Name of Someone Who Has No Work in Scientific Research
I would like to ask a series of questions regarding the topic of scientific research in universities. 1. Is it permissible for me to add the names of some colleagues as researchers for a paper that I wrote alone? 2. Is it permissible to add a researcher to a paper I wrote on the condition that he pays the money to the scientific journal? 3. Is the money I receive from the university if I get promoted for research to which my name was added but I did not write it considered haram?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: It is not permissible to add a name to the research for someone who did not contribute to the research effort. It is not enough to pay money to have one's name added to the research, nor is it permissible for him to take the reward money from the journal or the university for someone who did not write the research; because it is not his effort, and God knows best.
