Question
A person has a Quran that he took from a mosque several years ago, and the mosque has been closed because it is about to collapse. What is the ruling on possessing it? And if its pages have torn due to its age, what should be done with it?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: He should buy a Quran and place it in a mosque; because it is a waqf (endowment) and cannot be owned, and it must be returned, and God knows best.
