Abortion of the Deformed Fetus After Formation
I was pregnant, and in the fourth month, they told me that the fetus had a deformity, and there was fluid on the head. The doctor said it must be aborted, and only one doctor told me it might affect him. I underwent the abortion in the sixth month, and after I aborted it, about a year later, I learned about the prohibition. My husband asked a mufti, and he said the doctor should fast for two consecutive months. The question is: Do I and my husband also have to fast?

I say, and with God's success: It is not permissible to overlook the four months, and you and your husband may incur sin, unless a number of trustworthy doctors confirm the deformity, in which case your action is permissible and there is no expiation required from you. If the deformity is not confirmed and it is merely a doubt from the doctor, it is considered the killing of a soul, which is a sin, a great sin, and you must pay the blood money to the heirs of the fetus.
