Abortion Due to Doubt About the Fetus's Illness
I am six weeks pregnant, and I have a sick son who has developmental delays and may have a genetic disease. I am worried that the next child will have the same disease, and there are no tests during pregnancy that confirm whether the fetus is sick or healthy. Is it permissible to terminate the pregnancy at this stage of the fetus's age?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: It is permissible to terminate the fetus before four months even for a minor excuse such as illness, poverty, corruption of time, or having many dependents, and what I mentioned is of that kind, and God knows best.
