Question
What is the ruling on a fasting person who inhaled smoke intentionally?
Answer
If someone inhaled smoke intentionally, in any form, even if it was from incense and he smelled it while being mindful of his fast, if he did not enjoy it or benefit from it, he must make up the fast without expiation; because the completeness of desire and craving was not achieved. However, if he benefited from it or enjoyed it, he must make up the fast and perform expiation if he was mindful of the fast; because the completeness of desire and craving was achieved.
