Question
A woman has 95 grams, and a year has passed since the first year, and she did not pay zakat. Is she required to pay zakat now and does she owe it for this year, which is the second year? Should she pay zakat for both years?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: It must be zakat if the amount of gold reaches 100 grams. Whoever possesses less than this does not pay zakat, unless they have other money that, when combined with the gold, reaches 100 grams. The year for which zakat has not yet been paid remains a debt on their conscience, and God knows best.
