Answer
I say, and with God's success: It starts from sunset until the disappearance of twilight, which is the redness according to Abu Yusuf and Muhammad based on the fatwa, and according to Abu Hanifa, twilight is the whiteness, which is slightly red. It does not delay from the redness except for a little, the amount of time it takes for the redness to rise from the whiteness at dawn; this is because the evening prayer occurs in the midst of the night, so it does not include as long as the whiteness remains; because it is a remnant of the day, and for this reason, it is excluded by the rising of the obstructed whiteness of dawn. It was narrated by Abdullah ibn Rafi', the freedman of Umm Salama, the wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him), that he asked Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) about the time of prayer. Abu Huraira said: "I will inform you: Pray the noon prayer when your shadow is equal to you, the afternoon prayer when your shadow is twice your length, the sunset prayer when the sun sets, and the evening prayer between you and one-third of the night, and pray the dawn prayer in the twilight, meaning in the early dawn." In Al-Muwatta of Malik 1: 8, and Musannaf of Abdul Razzaq 1: 450, and its chain of narration is authentic as mentioned in I'laa as-Sunan 2: 9. And for the previous hadiths. See: Tabyin al-Haqaiq 1: 81, and Allah knows best.
