Answer
I say, and with God's help: It is recommended that the person taking a bath begins by washing his hands and his private parts, and removes any impurity if it is on his body, then performs ablution for prayer except for his feet, then pours water over his head and the rest of his body three times, then moves away from that place to wash his feet. The details are as follows: First: Saying the name and having the intention in his heart: and he says with his tongue: I intend to perform the bath to remove the impurity; as he (peace be upon him) said: "Every speech or matter of importance that does not begin with the mention of Allah, the Exalted, is cut off," as narrated in Musnad Ahmad 2/359. Second: Washing the hands up to the wrists at the beginning: It is recommended to wash the hands before the other limbs; as they are the means of purification; as narrated by Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): "When the Prophet (peace be upon him) would take a bath from janabah, he would start by washing his hands, then perform ablution as he does for prayer, then he would dip his fingers in the water and comb through the roots of his hair, then he would pour three handfuls of water over his head, then pour water over his entire body," as narrated in Sahih Bukhari 1: 99. Third: Washing the private parts: because it is a place of impurity, and it is a Sunnah for men, while for women it is obligatory to wash their external private parts; as it is like the mouth, which must be purified. Fourth: Ablution except for the feet: he delays washing them so that he does not wash them in a place where the used water gathers; however, if he bathes on a board or stone, he washes his feet there; as narrated by Maimunah (may Allah be pleased with her): She said: "I poured water for the Prophet (peace be upon him) to bathe, and he poured with his right hand over his left and washed them, then washed his private parts, then he touched the ground with his hand and wiped it with the dust, then washed it, then rinsed his mouth and sniffed water, then washed his face and poured water over his head, then moved away and washed his feet, then a towel was brought to him but he did not dry himself with it," as narrated in Sahih Bukhari 1: 102. Fifth: Pouring water over the entire body three times: starting with his head, then his right shoulder, then his left, then the rest of his body. Sixth: Removing impurity if it is on the body: removing impurity is a Sunnah besides washing the private parts; because the private parts are not exclusively associated with the presence of impurity.
