Answer
I say, and with Allah's success: It is recommended to perform ghusl (ritual washing) for Friday, the two Eids, and when entering into the state of ihram for Hajj or Umrah, and for standing at Arafah; based on the hadith of Umar in Sahih Bukhari: The Messenger of Allah said: "When one of you comes to Friday, let him perform ghusl," and as narrated by Imam Ahmad in his Musnad from Al-Fakih ibn Sa'd — who was a companion — : "The Messenger of Allah used to perform ghusl on Friday, the Day of Arafah, the Day of Fitr, and the Day of Nahr," and as narrated from Abdul Rahman ibn Yazid who said: "I performed ghusl with Ibn Mas'ud on the Day of Arafah under the trees," and as reported by Al-Tirmidhi from Zaid ibn Thabit : "He saw the Prophet undress for his ihram and perform ghusl," and because these are times of gathering and crowding, it is recommended to perform ghusl so that some do not suffer from the odor of others.
