Question
Is it permissible for a menstruating girl or woman (or one who has been surprised by her period) traveling to the city of Jerusalem with her husband or family to enter and stay in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque while waiting for her husband or family, or is the entire area of 144 dunams considered a mosque, and it is not permissible for her to enter and stay in it, knowing that it is difficult to leave her outside the mosque (outside this area) alone? Note: It is known that Al-Aqsa Mosque is that area which is approximately 144 dunams (144,000 square meters), and it is the area surrounded by a ring of buildings, which along with the wall forms the boundaries of Al-Aqsa Mosque. This area includes, as is known, the Dome of the Rock, the southern building (the mosque with the black lead dome called Al-Aqsa), the Marwani prayer hall, the old Al-Aqsa, the House of the Holy Quran, the House of the Noble Hadith, the offices of the administration of Al-Aqsa Mosque and security... all the courtyards, wells, domes, and pathways.
Answer
I say, and with God's success: It is permissible in the courtyard, but not in the mosque, and God knows best.
