The Ruling on Performing Friday Prayer at Home

Question

During this period when mosques are closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, a group of six people performed the Friday prayer with its conditions and pillars in one of the houses. Is this prayer sufficient according to the Hanafi scholars, or do they need to make it up as Dhuhr?

Answer

I say, and with God's help: This prayer does not meet the conditions for Friday, so it is not a valid Friday prayer, nor does it suffice for the obligatory prayer of the time, and they must make up the noon prayer. One of the conditions for Friday is that the place must be open for everyone to pray in; it is not permissible in a private place. And God knows best.
