The Ruling on Combining Between Schools of Thought
Is there a difference between the schools of thought on issues such as the rulings of purification, prayer, and ablution? And is there a sin for one who moves between them to take whichever is easier for him?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: There are differences in these issues among the four schools of thought due to their differing foundations, and it is not permissible for a person to switch between the four schools to take the easier option; this is following one's desires, and it is only permissible in cases of necessity. Therefore, one must adhere to and follow one school of thought, and God knows best.
