The Considered Fear for Permitting Breaking the Fast

Question
A fasting person may break their fast if they fear for their life. What is the considered fear that permits breaking the fast?
Answer
What was by the preponderance of suspicion based on an indication or experience, even if it was from someone other than the patient at the time of the disease's onset, or by the report of a skilled, concealed Muslim physician: that is, one whose condition is unknown and has not shown corruption or justice, see: Al-Badai 2: 97, Al-Fath Al-Qadeer 2: 253, and Rad Al-Muhtar 2: 421.
