Answer
His private parts are from below the navel to below the knee, so it is what is beneath the line that passes through the navel and encircles his body in such a way that the distance from it is equal on all sides. The knee is private, while the navel is not; for Abdullah ibn Ja'far, may Allah be pleased with him, said that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: "What is between the navel and the knee is private," in Al-Mustadrak 3: 657, and Al-Mu'jam Al-Saghir 2: 205. Al-Haythami said in Majma' Al-Zawa'id 2: 53: "In it is Asram ibn Hushab, who is weak." And from Umar ibn Shu'ayb from his father from his grandfather, may Allah be pleased with them, the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: "What is between the navel and the knee is from his private parts," in Sunan Al-Bayhaqi Al-Kabir 2: 228, Al-Firdaws 1: 294, and Tarikh Baghdad 2: 278. And from Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: "The private parts of the believer are what is between the navel and the knee." Ibn Al-Mulaqqin said in Khulasat Al-Badr Al-Munir 1: 153, and Ibn Hajar in Al-Khulasah 1: 153: "Narrated by Al-Harith ibn Abi Usamah with a weak chain." His saying, peace be upon him, to Jarhad, may Allah be pleased with him, when his thigh was uncovered: "Did you not know that the thigh is private?" in Sunan Abu Dawood 4: 40, and Jami' Al-Tirmidhi 5: 110, and he graded it as good, and Sahih Al-Bukhari 1: 145 as a suspended narration. This is a text indicating that the thigh is private. See: Rad Al-Muhtar 1: 271.
