Taking a Phone from Someone Else's Car While Cleaning It
When I was cleaning one of the cars at the dry cleaning station, is it permissible for the person who cleaned it to take anything they find in the car while cleaning the interior, especially if they find a phone and the owner of the car denies that the phone belongs to them?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: It is not permissible to take what you found in someone else's car, and the owner of the car has the right to act with it, whether by returning it to its owner if it belongs to someone else or keeping it for himself if it belongs to him. You are required to perform the task assigned to you regarding cleanliness, and God knows best.
