Should a woman ensure water reaches the earring hole during purification if there is no earring in it?

Question
Is it necessary for a woman to ensure water reaches the earring hole during purification if there is no earring in it?
Answer
If the earring is not in it, then if she is mostly convinced that the water reaches without effort, she does not exert effort; but if she is mostly convinced that it only reaches with effort, she exerts effort. However, if the hole closes after its removal, and it becomes such that if she directs the water over it, it enters, and if she neglects it, it does not enter, she directs the water, and does not exert effort to introduce anything other than water; because what is considered is the predominant assumption of the water's arrival. See: Sharh al-Wiqayah p. 92, and al-Durr al-Mukhtar 1: 104.
