Question
How should someone with a continuous excuse act, where it intensifies at times and lessens at others, to the point that the person does not distinguish it? Is all of their time considered a continuous excuse? If they pass gas during prayer at all times when they have the excuse, should they complete the prayer? Or should they renew their ablution?
Answer
I say, and with Allah's success: A person with an excuse is one who cannot pray at the time except with an excuse. It is permissible for them to pray while having the excuse, and it does not harm them. Their ablution is invalidated by the passing of time, not by the excuse itself. In the next prayer time, it suffices for the excuse to occur once for the person to remain classified as having an excuse. They cease to be considered as having an excuse if a complete prayer time passes without the occurrence of the excuse at all. This is the criterion for a person with an excuse, and Allah knows best.
