Ruling on Participating in the Sacrifice
Her husband sacrifices every year, intending the sacrifice for himself and his family. We were told that the sacrifice should be for one individual from the family. What is the correct ruling regarding the sacrifice?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: The sacrifice is obligatory for whoever possesses the nisab of zakat, which is usually the head of the household. Its goodness and virtue encompass the entire family, but it is not obligatory for each one of them. And God knows best.
