Ruling on Blood After Abortion

Question
After an abortion, should a woman pray if the bleeding stops and she becomes pure, or does she remain in this state for 40 days like after childbirth? Is it permissible to have intercourse after the bleeding stops and she becomes pure, or does she have to wait until the end of the forty days? I had an abortion 13 days ago and I don't know what to do?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: If the abortion is less than four months and the bleeding continues for three days or more, it has the rulings of menstruation. You should refrain from prayer and fasting, and your husband should not come to you until you are pure or complete ten days. What you see after ten days has the rulings of irregular bleeding. However, if the abortion is more than four months, it is considered postpartum bleeding, and you will be pure when the bleeding stops at the time of prayer or by seeing the white discharge. You will perform a ritual bath for that, and thereafter you will have the rulings of the pure. If the bleeding returns to you before the forty days have passed, it will be considered postpartum bleeding. And God knows best.
