Answer
I say, and with Allah's success: The recommended acts are those for which the doer is rewarded and the one who leaves them is not blamed. The details of the recommended acts of ablution are as follows: First: Starting with the right side: This means beginning with the right hand when washing the limbs; as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "When you perform ablution, start with your right side," in Sahih Ibn Hibban 3: 370, and Sunan Ibn Majah 1: 141. Second: Wiping the neck: Wiping the neck is recommended, not the throat, as wiping the throat is an innovation; as narrated by Talha bin Masrif from his father from his grandfather (may Allah be pleased with him): "I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) wipe his head once until he reached the nape of the neck — which is the gathering of the back of the head —," and in another narration: "the beginning of the nape," in Musnad Ahmad 3: 481, and Sunan Abu Dawood 1: 32, and Allah knows best.
