Participation in Free Religious Competitions
There is something spreading on Facebook that resembles advertisements; numbers are posted, and participants are asked to choose one of them, then a verse corresponding to that number appears, as if it is God's message to you for that day. What is the ruling on participating in these competitions?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: This image, to begin with, involves nonsense, play, chance, and deception. All the verses of the Quran were sent to us by God, and we can read the daily portion and take our lessons and reminders from it without this nonsense. And God knows best.
