Is it permissible to wipe over the socks for someone who is required to perform ghusl due to menstruation?

Question
Is it permissible to wipe over the socks for someone who is required to perform ghusl due to menstruation?
Answer
It is not permissible to wipe over the socks for one who is required to perform a full wash due to menstruation; because it is a condition for the permissibility of wiping over them that the event is light. If the event is heavy, such as menstruation or major ritual impurity, then it is not permissible; because the permissibility of wiping in the case of a light event is to alleviate hardship, as it occurs frequently and is prevalent, leading to hardship and difficulty in removing the socks. Major ritual impurity does not frequently occur, so there is no hardship in removing them. Therefore, if there is a reason for a full wash, such as major ritual impurity, menstruation, or postpartum bleeding, the wiping over the socks is invalidated, and they must be removed, and the entire body must be washed. Wiping over the socks can be renewed after putting them on again after completing the purification if one wishes to do so; as reported by Safwan ibn Assal, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: "The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, used to command us when we were traveling not to remove our socks for three days and nights, except in the case of major ritual impurity, but not for relieving oneself, urination, or sleep," in Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 1: 13, and Sunan al-Nasa'i al-Kubra 1: 92, and Sunan al-Tirmidhi 1: 159. And from Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "When one of you performs ablution and puts on his socks, he should pray in them and wipe over them, then he should not remove them unless for major ritual impurity," in Al-Mustadrak 1: 290, and it was authenticated. Menstruation is a heavy event like major ritual impurity and takes its ruling. See: Al-Maraqiy 131, and Radd al-Muhtar 1: 174, and Al-Hadiyyah al-Alaiyyah 39-40, and Bada'i al-Sana'i 1: 10.
