Imamate of the Lisping

Question
Is there a view in the Hanafi school that can be acted upon which validates following someone who is unable to pronounce Arabic letters correctly in recitation, like someone who lisps?
Answer

I say, with Allah's guidance: It is mentioned in Al-Bahr 1: 289: The imamate of the lisping person for others, Al-Fudaili mentioned that it is permissible, and in Al-Mujtaba, the invalidity is affirmed.  In Radd al-Muhtar 1: 582: In Al-Zahiriyya, the imamate of the lisping person for others is permissible, and it is said not, and similarly in Al-Khaniyya from Al-Fudaili. Its apparent meaning is their reliance on its validity, and likewise, it was relied upon by the author of Al-Hilya, who said when more than one of the sheikhs stated that he should not lead others, and as in Khizanat al-Akmal: The imamate of the stammerer is disliked. However, the more cautious view is the invalidity, as Al-Hasakafi followed it and organized it in his poem Tuhfat al-Aqran, and Al-Khair Al-Ramli issued a fatwa on it and said in his fatwas: The preferred and issued fatwa is the invalidity of the imamate of the lisping person for others who do not have a lisp. And Allah knows best.
