Cleaning the Beard

Question
What is the ruling on cleaning the beard during ablution, and what is its method?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: It is recommended for a man to comb his beard during ablution; as narrated by Anas: "When the Messenger of God used to perform ablution, he would take a handful of water and put it under his chin and comb his beard with it, and he said: This is how my Lord commanded me, the Mighty and Majestic," in Sunan Abu Dawood 1: 36, and Al-Jami' Al-Saghir 1: 112 by Al-Suyuti, and Al-Mu'jam Al-Awsat 3: 221. Al-Haythami said in Majma' Al-Zawa'id 1: 235: Its narrators are trustworthy. The combing is done with the right hand, by inserting it from below so that the palm of the hand is facing inward from the neck, and its back is facing outward; to allow the water taken to be inserted through the hair. Refer to: Rad Al-Muhtar 1: 79, Al-Hidayah 1: 13, Al-Lubab Sharh Al-Kitab 1: 10, Manh Al-Ghaffar Q7/B, and Al-Fatawa Al-Sirajiyyah 1: 4, and God knows best.
