Breaking an Oath
I swore an oath not to go to a place and not to speak to a certain person, and after a while, I forgot that I had sworn an oath and went and spoke. Do I have to offer an expiation for the oath?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: Expiation is required in case of forgetfulness, and the expiation for an oath is set at twenty dinars, to be distributed among ten needy people, and God knows best.
