I often send blessings upon the Prophet - peace and blessings be upon him - with this formula, (O Allah, send blessings, peace, and grace upon our master Muhammad), and also with the Ibrahimic prayer, but this is the one I use the most. Imam Al-Laknawi says: "The essence is that whoever claims that the rank of independent ijtihad has been severed with the last of the imams, in a way that cannot return, has erred and made a mistake; for ijtihad is a mercy from Allah, and the mercy of Allah is not limited to a specific time or to specific people." Does this statement imply the possibility of a new absolute mujtahid emerging in our time or in the end of times, or does it suggest that Al-Laknawi, may Allah have mercy on him, belongs to the school of the hadith scholars of jurists? I hope you can clarify this statement.

My niece passed away a month and a half ago. She was not wearing a hijab and may not have been consistent in performing her prayers. She worked in a bank and did not make up the days of Ramadan that she missed without a valid health excuse, but she used to pay a sum of money instead. Is it permissible for a relative to fast on her behalf, as her mother is suffering from kidney disease and her father is elderly and unable to fast?
