I say, and with God's success: The intention in washing is recommended, but it is not a condition for the validity of the washing; because the nature of water is to remove and purify, and its use necessitates the attainment of purity even in the absence of intention; because the nature of a thing does not part from it: like fire, its nature is to burn, it burns when it finds a suitable place to ignite, and no one would say that his beard does not burn in fire if he did not intend it: and like food and water, for their use necessitates quenching thirst and satisfying hunger without the addition of anything else. And its manner is that one intends in his heart, saying with his tongue: I intend to wash to remove the ritual impurity. Refer to: Majma' al-Anhar 1: 22, and God knows best.
