Istinjaa as a Precaution

Question
When is istinjaa considered a precaution?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: Istinja (cleaning oneself after relieving oneself) should be done as a precaution: if something comes out from one's body and does not soil, then that area should be washed as a precaution, meaning taking the safer option, avoiding areas of doubt, and protecting oneself from falling into sin; this is because a small impurity, even if it does not prevent prayer according to us, nor nullify ablution as long as it does not exceed to a place that must be washed, is considered a barrier by others, such as Zafar and Al-Shafi'i, and nullifying according to Zafar, may God have mercy on him. Therefore, taking the agreed-upon opinion is preferable, and avoiding areas of disagreement is more prudent, as is the practice of the people of piety. See: Al-Tawdeeh, explanation of the introduction of Abu Lyth 94/b, and Bada'i' Al-Sana'i' 1/18, and Al-Ikhtiyar 1/48, and God knows best.
