Question
What should the muezzin do if he cannot turn his face during the Hayyalatayn to the right and left?
Answer
If the minaret is narrow, he remains in his place; as there is no need to turn. If the minaret is wide, he turns in it to extend his head from its sides while remaining in his place. He extends his head from the right opening and says: Hayya 'ala al-salah, then he goes to the left opening, extends his head, and says: Hayya 'ala al-falah; because if the minaret is spacious, the announcement is not achieved without turning. As narrated by Abu Juhaifa, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: ((He called the adhan, and when he reached Hayya 'ala al-salah, Hayya 'ala al-falah, he turned his neck to the right and left, and did not turn around)), in Sunan Abu Dawood 1:142, and he remained silent about it, and in Sunan al-Bayhaqi al-Kubra 1:395.
