Ghusl for One Who Converted to Islam While in a State of Janabah

Question
What is the ruling on ghusl for someone who converted to Islam while in a state of janabah?
Answer

I say, and with God's help: He must perform the ritual washing (ghusl); because the state of ritual impurity (janabah) continues, as long as he remains in a state of impurity after converting to Islam. However, if he converts to Islam and is not in a state of impurity, then performing the ritual washing is recommended for him, and God knows best.
