I say, and with Allah's guidance: It is not permissible; rather, it counts as the dates themselves, and the remainder must be completed by providing another half sa' of dates; because value is not considered in what is explicitly stated, whether the item given is of the same kind or of a different kind, as long as it is explicitly mentioned.
